Sustainable Business that Supports Clean Air

research

Finding companies that use sustainable business practices is not as easy as you might think because some companies fall in to this category but don’t widely advertise it. They may have a CEO who feels that sustainable business practices like using sustainable vendors and suppliers is just the right thing to do and don’t go tooting their horn about it. These are the best kinds of companies to do business with when you can find them because they do the right thing not because it’s fashionable or to attract a specific demographic but because they believe in the overall effect it will have on making the world a better place.

So how do you find these kinds of businesses? You have to do your research and a lot of times you have to ask. Although these companies may not advertise their green practices they never hold back when asked about them either. I often look at companies that someone recommends and simply approach the CEO of the company to find out whether they use sustainable business practices or not. Recently I had to replace the 24x30x1 furnace filter which can be purchased online at AirFilterBuy but that isn’t as convenient as shooting down to the store and picking one up so I decided to talk to the CEO and ask him how he felt about green business and sustainable business practices. Well it turns out that they love green businesses and they make a point to only deal with vendors and suppliers that wholly believe in sustainable business themselves. Therefore I felt good about foregoing the convenience of picking a filter up at the store to instead buy them from a company that holds the same values that I hold, mainly that we all have a part to play in keeping the earth around for as long as we can.

It’s really that simple. Sometimes you can find that kind of information on their website but I suggest you always follow up with someone from the company you are researching to make sure that it’s not just a marketing ploy. These days “green” is a buzzword that is circling too many marketing board room meetings and used solely for the purpose of increasing public perception to the good. As someone who cares about this earth I feel it is my duty to spend my money wisely on companies that do their part to be eco-friendly and that requires a little bit of digging and research. Taking the word of a marketing department can be detrimental, especially if you really mean what you say and want to make a difference.

I know that taking the time to research the companies that we do business can seem disruptive to our everyday lives but it is well worth the effort and eventually it becomes second nature. As with anything else, you become better and better at it the more you do it and the less time it takes. Soon you will be able to determine how eco-friendly a business is with just 10 minutes of research and you will think back about the times you used to do business with just any company and realize how much better off the earth is now because of your time and effort.
